Spacers are small wires or small elastics placed between your teeth to help make room for the placing of your bands. Keep these guidelines in mind as you adjust to your spacers:
- Spacers will feel as if you have food trapped between your teeth. This sensation will pass as your teeth begin to move apart.
- Remember not to floss where the spacers have been placed.
- Do not eat hard or sticky foods or gum.
- Sometimes, after the spacers have been in for a few days, enough space will have been created, and a spacer may fall out. If this happens, call the office. An appointment will be made a day or two before your scheduled banding, and a new spacer will be placed.
